The best Christmas gift that Go Daddy could give customers this Holiday season is a % of auction prices. That’s right let the biggest registrar in the industry follow in the steps of Australian based Fabulous and give back to the customer who has let their domain expire.
Fabulous has their expired domains go to NameJet, just so long as you opt in to the program you receive 60% of the final sales price minus renewal fee.

How does the Expiring Domains Service work?
Shortly after your domain expires it will be listed at NameJet. The listing will be active for approximately 30 days. During this time NameJet customers have the ability to bid on domain names. More information can be found on the NameJet website.
You can still renew the domain for the standard renewal cost during these 30 days, however, after this date it may not be possible for you to retain ownership of any expired domain names in your account if you have opted in to this service.

I think if this type of program was introduced on Go Daddy it would result in fewer domains transferring out, why leave Go Daddy and another potential revenue stream down the road for domains you grow tired of or get no offers ?
Another revenue stream would be to get those who don’t pay for an auctions membership to pay for one so they can be included in the program.
Think about all the 5 and 6 and 7 number .coms that have expired over the last year, names the owners would have never thought would sell as the market picked up out of nowhere.
All those XPJ788.com and JS3888.coms, that would been have a nice surprise to get 30 or 40 % of those $500 closing prices. We know that domains continue to go for more as an expired auction on Go Daddy as opposed to a public auction.
Now I am not stupid, I know that Go Daddy will probably chuckle, but as I said it would be a nice Christmas present, if Fabulous can do it, Go Daddy can do something.
